Moss Rigg Quarry is one of many now abandoned and slowly returning to a more natural state. The fresh needles of these Larch trees are full of vivid spring greens against the shaded quarry walls. On this day in mid May the hot sunlight reflecting off the rock walls and ground was intense, the whole quarry cirque was alive with heat and light.
