A bold vermillion stripe of colour on the richly textured and well named Painted Wall in mid Borrowdale.
How many times we return to these carved walls of endlessly fascinating rock art. As moisture leeches through the rock, patterns of dark and light constantly change, a slow kaleidoscope of colour and texture. Mesmerised, we search for patterns and are lost in geological time.
