Quarry Ferns

An elegant spray of ferns gives a stark contrast to the angular harshness of the surrounding rock. Ferns are one of the first colonisers of these abandoned quarries and seem symbolic of their return to nature. It is easy to see these decaying, crumbling quarries as a sign of inevitable decline but they can just as easily be seen as redemptive spaces.
